What a beautiful photo! There is nothing as attractive as a red barn in winter! Love the shadows on the snow and the trail of footprints that show this barn is still in use. Lovely winter scene, Deb!

Deb Schense replied:

Thanks Karen! I agree on the red barn in winter. The owner celebrates every five years with a public event. It is 131 years old this year. President Herbert Hoover lived near the barn when growing up and it is believed he played in the barn.

I've done several book events there during anniversary years. It's a wonderful old barn. It can hold up to 200 tons of hay. Quite a bit for it's day. There is a rail car that transports hay from the barn to the wing where cattle were fed.

Her favorite landscape oil painting was a barge floating down the Mississippi River from a vantage point of the top of a hill. After high school, she attended Kirkwood Community College and received an Associate of Applied Science degree. Later, she went on to the University of Iowa where she graduated with a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Management Information Systems. By combining her skills with computers and...
